Clean Energy Says it Opened 68 CNG Stations 2011

Clean Energy says it opened 68 CNG stations 2011Clean Energy Fuels Corp. completed 68 natural-gas fueling stations in 2011, including 18 locations serving the refuse industry.

The Seal Beach, Calif.-based company said the stations are located in 16 states.

“We increased the number of station projects completed during the year by 50 percent over 2010,” CEO Andrew J. Littlefair said in a statement.

Along with the 18 garbage-related locations, the company also built seven natural-gas fueling stations serving transit operations and 28 locations for airport, taxi and shuttle locations. Another 15 sites were built “to support the needs of local and regional trucking and small fleets,” the company said in a statement.

Clean Energy fuels more than 25,000 natural gas-powered vehicles through 273 locations in the United States and Canada, the company said.
