These linear systems may result in negative economic, environmental and social impacts. However, by mimicking natural patterns that view waste as a resource and adopting dynamic, closed-loop material and energy networks, humans can move toward a zero waste future where resources are used productively to meet human needs while also improving the economy and regenerating ecological support systems. Collaboration and communication are the keys to making this future a reality by breaking down the barriers between the businesses that provide the goods and services that support our society.
