The Central Park Conservancy, in partnership with Alcoa, will replace existing plastic bins with receptacles made from 30% recycled aluminum, as well as add more than 400 new bins.

The e-cycleNYC program is available to buildings with more than 10 units with a variety of extra services offered including storage bins, room clean-outs and building events.

The bottle’s shape design will require 15% less energy to produce and will be made with 50% recycled PET.

The move will keep approximately 1.8 million pounds of plastic materials from going directly into the waste stream annually.

The new interpretation will reduce the environmental degredation caused by PCBs and allow more plastics to be recycled.
