Two airlines are teaming up to operate dozens of flights that will run on biofuel over the next few weeks.
Alaska Airlines started biofuel-powered service Nov. 9 on two flights from Seattle to Washington D.C., and Portland, Ore., the company said.
That airline, along with sister carrier Horizon Air, plans to utilize a 20% blend of biofuel made from used cooking oil on a total of 75 flights.
Alaska Airlines said the switch to 20% biofuel will cut greenhouse gas emissions by 10%.
Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air both are subsidiaries of Alaska Air Group.
