General Motors Co. has two more sites that are no longer sending waste to landfills.

The Detroit-based automaker said the addition of assembly and stamping plants in Rosario, Argentina, brings the companyґs total to 78 landfill-free locations.

“Our team made great strides once they began seeing waste as reusable material,” said Norberto Tinazzo, environmental engineer at GM’s Rosario plants, in a statement.

GMґs landfill-free plants recycle or reuse more than 97% of all waste, on average, the company said. The remaining amount is sent to waste-to-energy sites.

“Weґre able to share knowledge among all of our global facilities to identify the best of the best in innovative recycling,” said John Bradburn, manager of waste reduction at GM, in a statement.

More than half of GM’s 145 plants do not sent materials to landfills.
