Vermont’s electronic waste program recently began providing free e-waste recycling to residents, charities, schools and small businesses.
The program, known as Vermont E-Cycles, has collection sites statewide and operates year-round. All computers, monitors, printers, computer peripherals and TVs — regardless of brand, age or condition — are accepted for recycling.
Vermont E-Cycles was created after state legislators last year passed a law requiring manufacturers of electronics to finance the cost of collecting and recycling their discarded products.
In addition, a landfill ban that took effect in January also requires facilities to accept other forms of electronics, such as DVD players and fax machines. But those facilities may charge a fee for items not covered in the E-Cycles program.
