The Recycling Association of Minnesota is encouraging residents to drop off their old, broken holiday lights at participating hardware stores to be recycled.
The program, “Recycle Your Holidays,” recycles every part of the string, organizers said.
There are more than 400 drop-off locations throughout the state, including various Ace Hardware stores.
“This year our goal is to recycle 200,000 light strands and to encourage more Minnesotans to make the change to LED light strands,” said Ellen Telander, executive director of the group, in a statement.
